Support from France is crucial to the development of French Guiana, but while the relationship is generally cooperative, instances where tensions arise happen. The country has a strong space industry. Population growth will be strong, but it is unlikely to increase consumer market appeal given small numbers, whilst poverty persists. Internet use is expected to reach near-universal levels over the long term and technology is helping to connect remote areas.
