China’s BYD, the world’s biggest maker of EVs, is increasingly pivoting to overseas markets, faced with a slowdown and price war in its domestic market. In Q2 2025, BYD recorded its first drop in profits for more than three years, as it cut prices to remain competitive in the Chinese new car market. BYD is planning production or assembly operations in Hungary, Turkey, Brazil, Malaysia and Indonesia, adding to its existing overseas sites in Thailand and Uzbekistan.
