The slowdown is due to a shift in consumer behaviour, as shoppers seek cost-effective and health-conscious product choices amid continued macro-economic uncertainty.
Myopia control spectacles and myopia control contact lenses are the new breakthrough advancements in eyewear, registering the highest growth rates in 2025, boosted by a combination of increased awareness and heavy investment in clinical studies. Daily disposables continue to show strong single-digit growth, driven by convenience and hygiene.
North America remains the highest value region in global eyewear, and accounted for 48% of global real terms growth over 2020-2050. Nevertheless, given the uncertainties around Trump-era tariffs, Asia Pacific will play a pivotal role in driving the next wave of growth, as eyewear companies are expected to diversify operations into Southeast Asia.
