Performance softens as inflation and high interest rates weigh on demand
Brazil’s consumer foodservice current value sales increased in 2025, but momentum slowed versus 2024 as operators faced above-forecast food and beverage inflation, tighter monetary policy and softer discretionary spend. Food and beverage inflation reported by industry players was around 7–8% per year, above the federal government’s 5% IPCA projection, while GDP growth was around 2% and the Selic rate reached 15% per year. Major chains reported weaker footfall and responded with sharper value offers, including bundled meals priced as low as BRL20. At the same time, chained limited-service restaurants remained the most dynamic area in current value terms, supported by scale, promotions and loyalty activity, while healthier propositions such as Boali expanded faster from a smaller base.
