Total volume sales of spirits are expected to rise in Hong Kong in 2025, and indeed throughout the forecast period. However, while the off-trade is set to see a positive volume CAGR, the on-trade is expected to see a slight negative volume CAGR during the forecast period overall.
The recent reduction in spirits taxes has already had an immediate impact on the overall spirits industry in Hong Kong, with a number of prominent events being hosted in the city, as well as the improved performance of spirits and fine wine auctions. It is highly likely that this growth is not temporary, and will be sustained, as both distributors and brand owners will continue to invest more into the alcoholic drinks logistics and storage infrastructure, setting up the foundations for Hong Kong to strengthen its position as one of Asia’s top wine and spirits hubs.
Hong Kong’s local distillery scene is growing from strength to strength, mirroring the growth of the local craft beer scene. As of 2025, Hong Kong had four fully operational craft distilleries, with a few more currently known to be in the preparatory stages.
