PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Healthy outlook for retail e-commerce

High price sensitivity will drive e-commerce adoption
Despite inflation being within the target range, interest rates are expected to remain high in New Zealand, keeping household budgets under pressure. In this economic context, consumers will remain cautious in their spending, making them highly price sensitive.
Online marketplaces to drive sales growth
Online marketplaces for both new and second-hand goods comprise an important part of e-commerce sales in New Zealand. Local website Trade Me Marketplace garners almost 17% e-commerce value share in 2024.
