Competitive landscape
Chilean multinational Softys continued to lead the competitive landscape in tissue and hygiene, accounting for overall half of value share and gaining further value share in 2024, and leading in all products. It continued to benefit from being the only player with any sizeable local manufacturing presence, as well as an extensive distribution network.
Retail developments
Small local grocers, modern grocery retailers and pharmacies and nursery stores all continued to account for significant value sales in 2024. However, small local grocers gained the most value share, as it was the most positively impacted by the reduction of cross-border shopping into Argentina.

Overall, tissue and hygiene is expected to register positive constant value and volume growth over the forecast period. An improving economy, as well as a continuing easing of inflation, should support value growth.
