Apparel and footwear in 2024: The big picture
Inflation and interest rates remained high in Turkey over 2024, suppressing consumer expenditure on non-essential goods like apparel and footwear. Retail volume sales faced a sharp decline amid the significant devaluation of the Turkish Lira and soaring retail prices.
2024 key trends
Generative AI (GenAI), is poised to revolutionise the retail industry in 2024 with its ability to create unique and personalised content, understand customer preferences, and automate tasks. AI is transforming the way retailers interact with customers, manage inventory, and optimise operations.
Competitive landscape
Leading player LC Waikiki Magazacilik Hizmetleri has transformed its e-commerce platform into a major marketplace, with the new LCW.com launching in 2024.
Retailing developments
E-commerce sales have expanded significantly since the pandemic and continued to gain share in 2024. Foreign e-commerce retailers were dealt a blow in 2024 amid new custom regulations which have driven up the costs of buying goods from overseas and lowered the minimum spend per transaction.
