Dengue expected to remain a public health concern in Brazil, which will drive growth

The expected continuation of the effects of the El Niño and La Niña phenomena is likely to push retail volume and current value sales of home insecticides in Brazil in the forecast period, with electric insecticides and spray/aerosol insecticides still gaining traction as consumers will spend more time at home, given the number of people still working from home, at least some of the time. The difficult sanitary conditions throughout the country in impoverished cities and communities will continue to favour the proliferation of the Aedes Egypt mosquito, which transmits dengue, zika and chikungunya diseases, despite strong government actions in tracking and eradicating these diseases.

Fiercer competition expected for the coming years

Flora Produtos de Higiene e Limpeza, which is owned by one of the largest meat processing companies in the world – JBS-Friboi – renewed the visual identity of its brand Mat Inset in 2024, which received new packaging, and it also launched a new electric insecticide which claims to protect against insects for up to 45 nights. With the global brand owner providing a strong financial background, it is expected that the brand will gain traction in the forecast period, with the potential to intensify the competition with the main players, Ceras Johnson and Reckitt Benckiser.

Family-friendly claims expected to gain more space

Health concerns are also expected to increase within home insecticides in Brazil in the forecast period, as the usage of electric insecticides rises, and more consumers suffer from adverse effects from these products. Besides allergic reactions, respiratory issues might affect consumers who are more sensitive to the ingredients used, including older people and children, which will open the way for formulae and components that are less aggressive.
