COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Shakey’s and Max’s retain consumer attention to lead the field
Shakey's Pizza Asia Ventures Inc remained the leading player in full-service restaurants in the Philippines in foodservice value share terms in 2025. The company, which offers the leading brand, Shakey’s, increased its foodservice value share at the end of the review period by taking advantage of the return to dining-in behaviour in general, and its leading position in the fastest-growing category, pizza full-service restaurants.
Demand for modern Filipino dining creates momentum for Mesa
Meanwhile, Foodee Global Concepts’s Mesa brand showed dynamism in 2025, supported by the strong consumer demand for modern Filipino dining and the continued rise of new Filipino concepts in key commercial areas like BGC. The growing visibility of contemporary Filipino restaurants, such as Mesa, and The Moment Group’s Manam Comfort Filipino, helped to reinforce interest in brands that offer familiar dishes with a twist or offer something new.
Chained operators continue to expand and gain share
Independents overwhelmingly dominated in outlet numbers, leading to the highest transactions and foodservice value sales in 2025. The high popularity and strength of Asian full-service restaurants help to keep independent numbers and traffic high.

Full-Service Restaurants
FSR (full-service restaurants) encompasses all sit-down establishments where the focus is on food rather than on drink. FSR is characterized by table service and a relatively higher quality of food compared to quick-service units. Menus offer multiple selections and may include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Preparation of food products is often complex and involves multiple steps. NOTE: restaurants types catalogued in this segment refer to table-service only (outlets with a proper “full table service:” wait staff attending customers and taking orders at the tables). Outlets with “limited table service” are excluded from FSR. For example: outlets where customers order their food at the counter are excluded (even though the waiter will then bring the food at the table).
