After local player Mio withdrew from in-car electronics and Papago moved towards drive recorders, Garmin continues to dominate in-car entertainment sales in Taiwan due to its navigational accuracy, long-term trustworthy brand image and higher visibility in retail channels, including the leading distribution channel, car workshops (other non-grocery retailers), as well as exclusive Garmin outlets.

Local official subsidies help boost momentum for in-car entertainment
In November 2021, the Taiwanese consumer government decided to extend the period of current subsidies to encourage scrapping older vehicles. The Ministry of Finance will reduce the commodities tax for new cars and provide compensations of up to TWD 50,000 per vehicle, expected to last until January 2026.
