PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
3D printed shoes offer personalisation and a sustainable choice
3D printing technology is rapidly developing and is expected to enter the footwear industry with opportunities for personalisation and sustainability. This technology can enable the production of custom sports shoes, such as climbing shoes, or made-to-order footwear using biodegradable materials.
Challenges for local manufacturers even as prices grow
The Polish footwear industry, which includes both local manufacturers and global brands is facing protracted cost pressures. As manufacturing costs and wages increase, footwear brands will grapple with higher production costs which are likely to lead to price increases.
Cost of returns is growing issue for e-commerce retailers
The cost of returns is increasingly becoming a concern for the footwear industry, particularly in footwear product categories with a high share of e-commerce sales. Footwear has high return rates largely due to sizing issues and customer dissatisfaction after trying on shoes purchased online.
