Footwear in Indonesia is expected to experience positive value growth (at constant 2024 prices) over the forecast period. One of the most notable trends will be the continued shift towards casual footwear styles, a change that gained momentum during the pandemic when outdoor activities were limited.
Local Indonesian footwear producers are currently grappling with declining consumer demand, as evidenced by the closure of PT Sepatu Bata's factory and layoffs at companies such as PT Parkland World Indonesia and PT Dean Shoes. The industry, which has traditionally relied on exports to key markets like the US and Europe, has been hit hard by the global economic slowdown that began in 2023.
Salomon Indonesia has teamed up with local brand Mote Mote to launch the "Re-Work Collection," a unique collaboration that encourages creativity and personalisation in footwear. The collection allows customers to customise their Salomon shoes with hand-made charms and beads crafted by Mote Mote, merging Salomon's sporty, masculine design with Mote Mote’s colourful, feminine elements.
