PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Economic challenges are expected to aid the rise of private label goods
As Austria continues to face economic challenges across the early review period, the footwear industry is expected to be under pressure. These economic strains may lead to further market consolidation, with more businesses being forced to close or scale down.
The ongoing evolution of omnichannel strategies in the footwear category
While physical stores will remain an important sales channel for footwear, the retail e-commerce in Austria is expected to continue evolving over the forecast period, to meet the demands of convenience and value. As consumers increasingly turn to retail e-commerce for its ease and often better deals, retailers are addressing the challenges that still exist when it comes to finding the right shoe size and material online.
Sustainability and transparency are expected to influence consumer choices in footwear
Across the forecast period, Austrian consumers are expected to increasingly prioritise brands that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable practices in their production processes, including fair trade and recyclability. As environmental concerns continue to rise, shoppers are more conscious of the social and ecological impact of their purchases.
