PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Footwear will see steady growth, despite potential rise in cost-conscious behaviour
The footwear market in Malaysia is poised for steady growth in retail volume terms during the forecast period as retailers push ahead with their programmes of expansion. Footwear brand VIVAIA, for example, saw the opening its first physical store in Malaysia in August 2024 at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur.
Growing interest in sporting activities will lead to rising demand for advanced footwear technologies
The increasing popularity of athleisure wear among Malaysians, combined with their growing participation in sporting activities, such as running and gym workouts, will continue to drive demand for comfortable and technologically advanced footwear. Brands like Skechers are meeting this demand by incorporating cutting-edge technologies into their footwear ranges.
E-commerce to reshape the footwear market with competitive pricing
The growing presence of online retailers is poised to transform Malaysia’s footwear market during the forecast period. Offering competitive pricing across men’s, women’s, and children’s footwear, e-commerce platforms are becoming increasingly attractive to price-conscious Malaysians.
