PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Ethical and eco-friendly footwear on the rise
Over the forecast period, sustainability will increasingly influence footwear purchasing decisions in Germany. Despite a cost-of-living crisis limiting local consumers' purchasing choices towards the end of the review period, as soon as the tense economic period has eased, there will be general motivation to make more sustainable choices and even pay more for more sustainable and ethical products.
Customised footwear to gain popularity in Germany
The growing demand for customisation and personalisation is a notable trend expected to shape footwear in Germany over the forecast period. Local consumers increasingly seek unique footwear that aligns with their individual preferences and lifestyles, reflecting a broader movement towards more tailored, customer-centric products in the fashion industry.
E-commerce footwear sales to gain momentum in Germany
Despite German consumers' strong preference for offline shopping, online sales of footwear in Germany are expected to continue growing over the forecast period. While Germany's digitalisation started relatively slowly, it has been rapidly gaining momentum as technological advancements, shifting consumer preferences, and the convenience of e-commerce increasingly make online shopping a more practical option alongside traditional in-store experiences.
