COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
adidas and puma lead with aggressive strategies
The footwear market in Argentina is moderately concentrated, with the top three manufacturers being adidas Argentina SA with a 9% share in 2025, followed by Southbay SRL with 7% and Puma Argentina SA with 5%. The market is characterised by a mix of global players and domestic brands competing for share.
No significant mergers or acquisitions, limited new launches
There were no significant mergers or acquisitions in the footwear market in Argentina in 2025, and none are anticipated in 2026. Similarly, there were no notable or innovative product launches from late 2025 or planned for 2026.
Rising number of imports reduces local production of sports footwear
The previous government's policies were strongly designed to stimulate domestic industry, even if the cost of products manufactured in Argentina was higher than those imported. The sports footwear industry was a clear example of these policies, as parts for producing footwear for major brands were imported and assembled locally, at a higher cost than importing finished footwear.
Players look to aggressive promotions to maintain volume sales
In a context of lower consumption, brands find themselves with a large amount of available stock that is not being sold because consumers are unable to absorb it, focusing their purchases on basic goods. This situation leads to a sharp drop in prices, which, even in dollars, remain high and above the values the same brands have in other countries.
