Robust growth supported by low per capita consumption
Soft drinks continued to experience robust growth in both value and volume terms in India in 2025 due to exceptionally low per capita consumption across the nation. While the global average stands at 104 litres per person, consumption in India averages a mere 25 litres. Expansion was also fuelled by the rapid rise of quick commerce and e-commerce, driven by a large youthful population consisting of 329 million Millennials and 381 million Gen Z individuals, widespread access to affordable mobile data, and a growing preference for convenience. In addition, the GST restructuring introduced in September 2025 has benefited categories such as juice and bottled water. The reduction in tax was passed directly to consumers, which successfully stimulated volume growth during the final quarter of the year.
