PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Sales unlikely to recover to pre-pandemic levels
Sales of wine are expected to see a slight decline in total volume terms over the forecast period. Although the projected decline is relatively small, it is worth remembering that wine sales were among the hardest hit by the pandemic and unlike other products they have not fully recovered in the post-pandemic period.
Production of non alcoholic wine at the nascent stage in Switzerland
Non alcoholic wine is attracting more and more consumer interest in Switzerland and, according to many industry experts, has great growth potential. Nonetheless, sales during the review period remained limited, which was in part due to the high costs involved with there being hardly any Swiss producers involved in the category.
Domestically produced wine set to play an important role in the forecast period
In line with the growing trend towards lighter wine that has been emerging for several years now, the share of still rosé and still white wine within still light grape wine is expected to continue increasing, while still red wine is projected to see an ongoing decline in sales. This development is also expected to have an impact on the prices of still white wine, which have been rising for years.
