RTDs is poised to remain one of the best performing areas of the Estonian alcoholic drinks market in terms of total volume sales growth over the forecast period. It will continue to benefit from the increasing popularity of these products among young adults, who have a strong appreciation for their convenience, affordability and diverse but approachable flavours.
Flavour will remain the main area for innovation in RTDs over the forecast period, with manufacturers expected to concentrate on developing products that provide more distinctive, sophisticated and exotic taste experiences. These are likely to include botanical infusions, spiced options and varieties made with the juice of less familiar fruits such as yuzu.
As health concerns lead more Estonians to consciously reduce the amount of alcohol they consume, lower ABV and non alcoholic options look set to continue gaining popularity in RTDs over the forecast period. This will in turn encourage manufacturers to allocate more resources to their development, promotion and distribution, which should provide a further boost to demand.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
