Total volume sales of RTDs are expected to continue growing over the forecast period, driven by the off-trade channel and an increase in consumer awareness, with its practical on-the-go format being well valued, in addition to sweet flavours and refreshing characteristics.
While the popularity of spirit-based RTDs is expected to rise in Chile over the forecast period, it remains a niche category within broader alcoholic drinks. The growth trend will predominantly be fuelled by the dynamic preferences of younger consumers of legal drinking age, who are increasingly drawn to the convenience, portability, and diverse flavour profiles offered by spirit-based RTDs.
The trend towards the consumption of drinks with lower alcohol content is expected to benefit demand for RTDs over the forecast period. Considered an alternative to beer or stronger spirits, these products appeal to some Chileans for refreshing consumption occasions and tend to target younger or female consumers who value sweet drinks.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
