PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Outlook is positive but RTDs set to remain a niche category
RTDs is expected to post healthy growth in total volume sales throughout the forecast period. Together with favourable demographic and economic conditions, increasing interest in sweeter and more refreshing alcoholic beverages with novel flavours among Azerbaijanis and the further development of the local cocktail culture should ensure overall demand remains robust.
Domestic players likely to face greater competition from imported brands
It is expected domestic brands will retain the largest share of total volume sales within RTDs over the forecast period. This is mainly due to the strength of top two companies A+Co MMC and Avrora, both of which are local producers.
Flavour diversification will help to maintain interest among young adults
Flavour diversification will remain the most important trend when it comes to innovation in RTDs over the forecast period. Most notably, the recent positive response to A+Co MMC’s Rio should inspire the launch of more spirit-based products that emulate popular cocktails, particularly sweeter and more exotic varieties favoured by young adults.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
