PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
RTDs set to struggle to achieve a stronger performance over forecast period
Over the forecast period, total volume sales of RTDs in Singapore are expected to record a -1% CAGR, falling to 147,000 litres. This projection reflects a challenging environment for alcoholic beverages, where RTDs face headwinds from market saturation, rising costs, and increasingly selective consumer behaviour.
Growing health and wellness trend in RTDs may spur consumer interest
The health and wellness trend will significantly influence the future development of RTDs in Singapore, driving innovation and reformulation to cater to consumers seeking lighter, more mindful drinking experiences. The demand for lower alcohol content, reduced sugar, and natural ingredients will shape both existing products and new launches, as consumers strive to balance indulgence with wellbeing.
Blurring lines between non alcoholic RTDs and other options create headwinds
The main challenge facing non alcoholic RTDs in Singapore is differentiating itself from the broader offer of non alcoholic drinks. The growing overlap between categories is reshaping consumer perceptions and market dynamics, as demand for alcohol-free options rises and consumers seek drinks that offer the same indulgence, complexity, and experience as traditional cocktails without the alcohol.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
