PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Bright outlook for RTDs as players tap into evolving trends
Looking ahead, Australia’s RTDs category is poised to see accelerated growth over the forecast period, supported by an improving economic environment and a recovery in discretionary spending. As financial pressures ease, consumers are expected to resume trading up to premium, flavour-led, and health-aligned offerings, revitalising demand across both on- and off-trade channels.
Non alcoholic RTDs expected to gain momentum
Non alcoholic RTDs is projected to be the most dynamic category in total volume terms over the forecast period, driven by the rising demand for moderation, wellness, and functional benefits. As health consciousness becomes an increasingly influential factor in beverage choices, particularly among Gen Z and Millennial consumers, non alcoholic RTDs are likely to gain traction as credible, lifestyle-aligned alternatives to traditional alcoholic drinks.
Sustaining growth through inclusive and functional offerings
Innovation will remain a vital pillar of growth in Australia’s increasingly mature RTDs market. As consumer preferences continue to shift toward health-conscious and lifestyle-led choices, future innovation is expected to concentrate on low alcohol, non alcoholic, and functional RTDs that align with evolving wellness priorities.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
