Trendy and well-marketed RTDs will continue to gain consumer interest in 2025, especially as they make their way into more convenience stores and smaller-format retail outlets in Slovakia. Whilst higher excise taxes will push up prices and hamper volume sales in 2025, the broader outlook is positive for RTDs.
Glass packaging is expected to gain further popularity in RTDs over the forecast period, supported by the ongoing premiumisation trend. Glass is increasingly seen as a premium, eco-friendly material that enhances the product's image, making it an attractive feature for mid-priced and premium RTDs.
Future innovation within RTDs will be centred on premiumisation, convenience, image and new flavour combinations over the forecast period. The category’s strong growth potential should spark new product developments from private label, which will create competitive-priced and innovative options in accordance with consumer trends and the changing needs of consumers.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
