Beer in Slovenia is expected to see mild but steady total volume growth through the forecast period, despite headwinds like health and wellness, “sober curious” and responsible drinking trends and some stagnation in the population of legal drinking age consumers. However, due to relative low alcohol content, beer is set to remain the preferred choice of consumers of alcoholic drinks across generations and regardless of gender.
A growing focus on craft beer manufacturing is being driven by the evolving preferences of local beer drinkers, particularly millennials and Generation Z. This is set to foster an enhanced presence of craft beers in Slovenia over the forecast period.
In terms of innovation, in 2025 and beyond manufacturers are expected to continue to focus on developing new non/low alcohol beers, while dedicating efforts to enhancing their flavour. More and more breweries have improved their manufacturing techniques, including vacuum distillation and controlled fermentation.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
