PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Some value growth opportunities in new product developments
Beer is projected to see total volume and value sales continue to drop, with moderate-to-slight decreases though the forecast period. It is expected to see heavy competition from RTDs, as especially younger adults are turning their backs on beer.
Players to increase the weight of sustainability in their operations
Sustainability is set to continue to gain importance in beer over the forecast period. For example, in 2024, Olvi announced a more precise plan to achieve science-based climate targets in the value chain.
Tailored marketing to pique the interest of young adults
As younger adults are moving away from beer, tailor-made marketing may help to pique their curiosity. For example, Salama Brewing, a domestic microbrewery, offers extravagant craft beers, with eye-catching packaging and designs featuring art and tongue-in-check beer names, such as Get Rich or Drunk Trying, aiming to capture the attention of younger adults.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
