Over the forecast period, beer is expected to see off-trade volume sales growth stimulated by consumers being drawn to the expanding variety of products on offer and the category’s affordability. Categories such as ale and weissbier/weizen/wheat beer are set to register the strongest volume growth over 2024-2029 due to the low sales base of such beers and the expansion of the offer of new products, such as those launched by Anadolu Efes in 2024 under its Efes Haus brand.
At the end of the review period, the high inflation rate and reduced disposable incomes meant that Turkish consumers reduced their frequency of going out to eat and drink. However, this trend is expected to reverse over the forecast period.
The launch of innovative and more premium products are expected to stimulate the consumer demand for beer in Turkey over the forecast period. Although, at the end of the review period, locally produced beers recorded higher growth than imported products due to their price advantage, over the forecast period imported premium lager is anticipated to see a stronger performance.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
