PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Imported lager to lead growth as contraband declines
Beer sales in Bolivia are expected to continue rising over the forecast period, driven primarily by increased consumption of legal products. Given the country’s ongoing economic challenges, the exchange rate is expected to remain high, making it less profitable for smugglers to import contraband.
Affordable beers to gain popularity as consumers shift from wine and spirits
The relatively low prices of both locally-produced and imported beers has positioned the category as an economical choice for consumers during leisure and social occasions. As a result, many are shifting away from more expensive beverages such as wine, gin, vodka, and other spirits, which have seen significant price increases.
Cerveceria Boliviana Nacional will seek to strengthen market leadership
Cervecería Boliviana Nacional (CBN) is expected to retain its leadership over the forecast period, supported by its extensive distribution network, strong brand portfolio, and continued investments in technology and innovation. The company’s ability to maintain competitive pricing, forge strategic alliances (such as its partnership with the TaDa liquor store network), and adapt to market trends will help reinforce its dominant position.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
