COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Private label retains the largest share but faces renewed competition from strong brands
Private label remained the leading force in Hungary’s bottled water market in 2025 in volume terms. The category’s relatively low differentiation and the high price sensitivity of many shoppers have historically favoured retailer brands, particularly in large, family-sized formats.
Functional water specialists and brand extensions drive the strongest growth
Sió-Eckes Kft stood out as one of the most dynamic players in 2025, thanks to the continued expansion of its functional water portfolio under the Hohes C brand. Building on the strong health credentials of its juice business, the company successfully extended into vitamin water, introducing ranges focused on energy, protection and antioxidant support.
