PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
The expansion of retailers set to drive growth for private label
Bottled water in Mexico is set to maintain off-trade volume growth throughout the forecast period. However, private label is expected to continue gaining share, with still purified bottled water being a category with an increasing presence of these brands, and carbonated purified bottled water already having a high share of private label.
Competition from other categories to impact bottled water
Innovation in other soft drinks categories might be an important threat to growth for bottled water over the forecast period. This trend is likely to be stronger during out of home consumption occasions, when Mexican consumers making the decision to purchase a beverage will see a wide range of alternatives to bottled water.
Carbonated bottled water set to drive growth in the on-trade channel
On-trade volume sales of carbonated bottled water are expected to see dynamic growth from an already notable base over the forecast period in Mexico, as consumers embrace healthier consumption habits and try to decrease their consumption of sweetened beverages. Carbonated bottled water is usually perceived as a good alternative to carbonates, especially in the on-trade channel, in which consumers are looking for an experience that is different from their everyday life.
