PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Bottled water brands offer a wider variety of sparkling flavours to attract younger consumers
Bottled water in China is set to maintain dynamic off-trade volume growth in the forecast period. Sparkling flavoured bottled water is expected to maintain one of the strongest growth rates, from a low base.
Chinese consumers’ bottled water consumption scenarios have become increasingly segmented
Demand for bottled water is now more specific amongst Chinese consumers, leading to the availability of a growing variety of products tailored to different consumption occasions. For example, there are mineral electrolyte waters designed for sports activities, waters specially formulated for brewing tea, and waters intended for maternal and infant use.
Rapid growth of large-pack still bottled water shows a good opportunity for the future
Large packs of bottled water present a significant opportunity for the future in China. Since the onset of the pandemic, consumers have increasingly developed a habit of stocking bottled water in the household.
