PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Olive oil innovations with the addition of other ingredients may help justify final prices
Olive oil has been experiencing significant disruption due to crop failures in major producing regions. This scenario, which has led to high prices and the search for alternatives in Brazil, is expected to persist in the forecast period, since its main cause is climate instability, which is likely to continue.
Avocado and palm oil seen as possible substitutes for olive oil
As global supply chain disruptions and fluctuating market conditions continue to impact the availability and cost of traditional cooking oils, consumers and producers in Brazil are increasingly turning to alternative options. One notable option available in the global market is avocado oil, extracted from the flesh of avocados, which are already seen as healthy products, and are seeing increasing consumption as they are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins.
Innovation in edible oils may come from differentiating oils by use
Edible oils often fall victim to misconceptions and prejudices when it comes to their specific uses. While some oils are traditionally associated with certain cooking techniques, their versatility and suitability for various purposes can be overlooked.
