PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Avocado oil expected to become more popular
Other edible oils looks set to be the most dynamic category in retail volume growth terms over the forecast period. While its expansion will be underpinned by robust demand for more affordable blended varieties, other product types are also anticipated to perform strongly.
Demand for spray formats set to continue rising
Demand for edible oils in spray formats should continue to rise throughout the forecast period. A growing number of brands and private label lines now offer such formats, with prominent examples including Crisco Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray, PAM Coconut Oil Spray and Great Value’s Butter Cooking Spray and Vegetable Oil Spray.
Further gains anticipated for private label products
While inflationary pressures in Costa Rica have eased significantly in 2024, many consumers remain cautious in their spending decisions following the steep rise in the general cost of living during the latter years of the review period. Accordingly, private label lines should continue to gain ground in edible oils over the forecast period.
