COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Nisshin Oillio continues to lead edible oils in Japan
Nisshin Oillio Group continues to dominate Japan’s edible oil landscape in 2025, maintaining the top share across olive oil and vegetable and seed oil. Nisshin Oillio has raised prices more than six times since 2020, with each increase ranging from 10% to 20%.
Flavoured oils expand in response to increasingly sophisticated demand
While traditional cooking oils such as rapeseed oils and so-called salad oil (blended oil), remain essential, major manufacturers are now expanding into value-added products such as flavoured oils. J-Oil Mills, for example, has introduced two types of oils designed to enhance Chinese cuisine.
