PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Rising prices will continue to present a challenge
The most significant challenges in edible oils over the forecast period will be inflation and rising prices. Several factors will contribute to these prices hikes, including the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, from where Tunisia imports seeds for oil production.
Ministry of Trade’s new olive oil and products with added health benefits provide opportunities for growth
Despite these challenges, there are still opportunities in the market. The 2024 launch of a new brand of olive oil by the Ministry of Trade, for instance, presents a significant opportunity for growth over the forecast period.
Rising health consciousness will drive demand for sunflower oil
Sunflower oil is expected to be the best performing category over the forecast period, driven by its relative novelty in the market and perceived health benefits. Sunflower oil has a lower cholesterol content and is expected to experience increased demand as a result of rising health consciousness in Tunisia.
