COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Growing pressure on the top two brands
The top two brands, Don Carlos (NBO Boyne Valley Foods) and Filippo Berio (NBO Kelkin), are projected to continue their general review period trend, with some fluctuation, of ceding retail value share in olive oil and edible oils overall over 2025. The top two NBOs also offer third-ranked Lakeshore vegetable and seed oils (Boyne Valley Foods) and fourth-ranked Fry Light (Kelkin) olive oil and the new pre-oil spray.
Private label gains as consumers trade down to lower-priced edible oils
The shift to private label is driven by heightened price-sensitivity among consumers, who increasingly seek cost-effective alternatives. Thus, private label has gained retail value share, reflecting a broader trend of shoppers trading down to more affordable options offered by retailers.
