COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Nestlé solidifies its leadership through cost optimisation
Nestlé continues to lead, accounting for nearly a quarter of value share, and also gains the most value share in 2025. This is due to its strength in instant coffee.
Nestlé expands reach through successful entrepreneurial programme
Nestlé’s My Own Business (MYOWBU) initiative, a low-case franchise scheme, has extended its market reach. By enabling young Cameroonians to run small mobile coffee carts selling hot Nescafé drinks directly in neighbourhoods, Nestlé has expanded access and reinforced brand visibility at the street level.
COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Supermarkets dominate distribution
Supermarkets lead distribution, accounting for well over two-thirds of value share. Small local grocers have lost significant value share over the review period one reason being that that they do not fresh coffee, due to its higher price points.
Foodservice registers higher volume growth
While retail channels account for most volume sales, foodservice registers the highest volume growth in 2025. This is being driven by the increasing popularity of eating breakfast outside the home.
